MONTROSE – The Millington volleyball team defeated New Lothrop in four sets on Thursday night to claim their first district title since the 2003 season. The Cardinals won by the scores of 25-17, 25-19, 16-25, and 25-23.
“This is our first district since 2003,” head coach Michelle Bouck told Millington Athletics. “15 years was long enough.”
Leading the way for Millington was Addi Cooper’s 39 assists and seven aces. Cooper served the last 15 points to close out set 1.
Kaitlyn Ill had 18 kills and 21 digs. Darrien Roberts had 21 digs. Grace Kowitz had nine kills and two blocks. Erin Schwab had 15 digs and seven kills.
Millington moves on to the regional round of the tournament. They will play USA on Tuesday, November 6 in the Regional semi-finals. The match is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Bad Axe High School.
