SAGINAW – All-State pitcher, Gabbie Sherman needed only 69 pitches through seven innings to defeat Swan Valley in game one of a doubleheader on Tuesday night. Sherman faced the minimum of 21 hitters in Millington’s 7-0 win. It was the first perfect game of Sherman’s illustrious career.

“It’s a positive way to start the season and helps after what happened last year,” Sherman said. “I was lucky too because our center fielder (Leah Denome) made a great play at the end to save the perfect game.

“The whole defense was great behind me. It helps to get us focused on this season.” (quote courtesy of mLive)

Offensively Darrien Roberts, Leah Denome, and Madi Hahn each had two hits apiece. Hahn ended with 2 RBIs. Sherman, Sydney Bishop, and Hannah Rabideau each had one hit, with Bishop and Sherman adding 2 RBIs each.

Millington won game two by the score of 6-2 with sophomore Sabrina Gates throwing. Gates allowed only one earned run in seven innings striking out 10 hitters.
