HEMLOCK – Millington, currently ranked #2 in the state, scored 31 runs and allowed only three hits in their opening day sweep of Hemlock by the scores of 15-0 and 16-0.

Game one saw all-state senior Gabbie Sherman pickup her 67th career win as she threw five innings and struck out 10 batters. Sherman also went 3-5 at the plate with a double and five RBIs.

Leah Denome was 4-5 with three runs scored and one RBI. Darrien Roberts and Hannah Rabideau each had three hits. Madi Hahn had two hits, while Sydney Bishop, Sabrina Gates, McKenna Slough, Lizzy Bees, and CC Ramirez each had one hit.

Gates took the mound in game two. She struck out six batters and did not walk anyone.

Roberts and Hahn led the team offensively with three hits apiece. Denome, Rabideau, and Slough each had two hits. Bishop and Neveah Hendricks each had one hit.

The Cardinals (2-0) return to action on Tuesday, April 9 when they travel to Saginaw to play Swan Valley (3-1). First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
