CARO – Millington swept a Tri-Valley East doubleheader from Caro on Monday night by the scores of 15-0 and 11-0.
The Cards pounded out 19 hits in the Game 1 mercy win. Darrien Roberts led the way with four hits and four RBIs in her five at-bats. Lead Denome had three hits and scored three runs. Gabbie Sherman had three hits, including a 3-run home run in the sixth-inning. Sydney Bishop had three hits.
Sabrina Gates and Madi Hahn each had two hits, while Hannah Rabideau and Addi Cooper each had one hit.
Sherman got the win, pitching five innings and striking out 10 batters while allowing only three hits and not walking a batter.
Homeruns by Elizabeth Bees and Gates were the power Millington needed to sweep Caro. Bees homerun came in the third inning of Game 2. Gates homerun, the first of her career, came in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Roberts, Denome, Sherman, Bishop, and McKenna Slough each contributed a hit in the win.
Sherman picked up ninth win of the season during Game 2. She struck out 8 batters while not allowing a run, walk, or hit.
Millington returns to action on Wednesday, May 2 when they host Bridgeport.
