BURTON – The Millington baseball team pounded out 24 hits in a doubleheader sweep of the Bulldogs of Bentley High School on Wednesday night at Vukovich Field.

The Cardinals wound pick up 11 of those hits in a 13-3 game one victory. Cole Hill led the charge in game 1 with three hits. Keagan Butterfield picked up two hits to go along with his three RBIs and four stolen bases. Kohlton Sherman had two hits and scored three runs.

Drew Germain, Lukas Selich, Nick McClain (3 RBIs) and John Hitsman all had one hit during the five-inning game 1 mercy.

Freshman right-handed pitcher McClain picked up his first career victory on the mound striking out one batter in the process.

Millington picked up another 13 hits in the 18-16 victory in the nightcap. The offense was led by Selich (3 RBI), Sherman (4 runs), McClain (3 RBI), Kyle Paquette, and Mason Wolfington’s (3 RBI) two hits apiece.

Hill, Germain, and Caden Hoffman each had one hit for the Cards.

Hitsman picked up his first career victory for Millington on the mound while only allowing one hit in the process.

The Cardinals (2-0) travel to Essexville (weather permitting) today to take on the Dukes (2-0) of Garber High School to open Tri-Valley East play.
