MILLINGTON – Millington split a Tri-Valley doubleheader with North Branch on Wednesday at Kern Field. The Cardinal nine won game one by the score of 4-1 and lost game two by the score of 14-4.
Sophomore right-hander Kyle Paquette needed just 85 pitches through seven innings pitched to pick up the win over the Broncos. Paquette struck out five batters while only walking two batters.
Millington got on the board in the fourth inning as Cole Hill’s infield single drove in Drew Germain whose earlier single broke up North Branch’s no-hitter. In the fifth inning, John Hitsman scored on a wild pitch after hitting an infield single. Lukas Selich and Kohlton Sherman would lead the sixth inning off with back-to-back singles. After advancing a base, Trevor Ogg would score both Selich and Sherman with a line drive single to left field.
In game two, Germain (R), Ogg (RBI), Selich (BB, SB, SAC), and Hill (RBI) each had one hit apiece for Millington. Nick McClain reached base twice by base-on-ball.
Millington (5-5, 1-3) will travel to Caro (4-4, 1-3) on Monday, April 30. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
