BAD AXE — Millington girls golf closed out the Big Thumb Conference jamboree portion of its schedule with another victory Monday, shooting a team score of 185 at Verona Hills Golf Club. Millington finished 18 strokes ahead of runner-up Cass City, which shot 203. Ubly placed third at 216, followed by Sandusky at 229, Laker at 243, Akron-Fairgrove at 245, Bad Axe at 247 and Caro at 249. Junior Logan Matusik led the field with a 43 to earn medalist honors. Freshmen Abbi Hoffman and Courtney Matusik each shot a 46 and tied for third overall. Junior Brooke Milostan added a 50 to finish fifth, giving Millington four golfers among the top five. Senior Zella Hascall shot a 52 and placed seventh, while freshman Brielle Hayes rounded out the lineup with a 62. The victory gave Millington seven wins in its eight nine-hole BTC jamborees this season. The Cardinals’ only runner-up finish came by one stroke to Ubly at Rolling Hills. Millington will now turn its attention to the BTC Championships on Wednesday, September 30, at Ubly Heights Golf & Country Club. The 18-hole conference championship is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
