UBLY — Millington girls golf returned to the top of the leaderboard Monday, winning the 18-hole Ubly Invitational at Ubly Heights Golf & Country Club with a team score of 410. The Cardinals finished 31 strokes ahead of runner-up Cass City, which shot 441. Host Ubly was third at 443, followed by Sandusky at 480, Caro at 502, Laker at 512, Bad Axe at 545 and Akron-Fairgrove at 560. Junior Logan Matusik led Millington with a 98, finishing second overall. Freshman Courtney Matusik was one of three Cardinals near the top of the leaderboard, shooting a 100 to finish third, while freshman Abbi Hoffman carded a 101 to place fourth. Junior Brooke Milostan added a 111 and finished ninth, while senior Zella Hascall shot a 115 to place 13th. Freshman Brielle Hayes rounded out the Millington lineup with a 130. The victory came six days after Millington finished one stroke behind Ubly at Rolling Hills, continuing a strong conference season for the Cardinals. Millington has a quick turnaround and will compete Tuesday, Sept. 22, in the Powers Catholic Ladies Charger Scramble at Swartz Creek Golf Course.
