Millington girls golf finishes second at Rolling Hills

CASS CITY — The Millington girls golf team came within one stroke of extending its Big Thumb Conference winning run Tuesday, finishing second at the BTC jamboree at Rolling Hills Golf Course. The Cardinals shot a 185, one stroke behind Ubly’s winning score of 184. Cass City finished third at 190, followed by Sandusky at 218, Caro at 234, Akron-Fairgrove at 248, Bad Axe at 249 and Laker at 251. Freshman Abbi Hoffman led Millington and earned medalist honors with a 43, the lowest round in the field. Senior Zella Hascall finished fourth overall with a 45, while junior Logan Matusik shot a 47 to place seventh. Freshman Courtney Matusik completed the Cardinals’ four scoring rounds with a 50 and finished 12th. Junior Brooke Milostan added a 52, while junior Monroe Goodell finished with a 63. The runner-up finish came after Millington had won five consecutive BTC jamborees, including Monday’s victory at Arrowhead Golf & Grill in Caro. Millington will have several days off before returning to the course Monday, Sept. 21, for an 18-hole BTC jamboree at Ubly Heights Golf & Country Club.
