Millington volleyball goes 3-1 at Marlette Invitational

MARLETTE — The Millington varsity volleyball team put together a 3-1 performance Saturday at the Marlette Invitational, picking up victories over Marlette, Armada and Carman-Ainsworth before falling to Port Huron. The Cardinals opened the tournament with a 25-21, 25-22 victory over host Marlette. Millington followed with another straight-set win, defeating Armada 25-21, 25-19. Millington continued its strong play against Carman-Ainsworth, winning 25-19, 25-9. The Cardinals’ run ended against Port Huron, which handed Millington an 18-25, 11-25 loss. Carly Ehrmantraut led the Cardinals’ attack with 23 kills and added 27 digs. Kallie Stevens finished with 17 kills, seven aces and 26 digs. Kate Murray directed the offense with 52 assists and added four blocks. Brooklyn Barden contributed 13 kills and a team-high five blocks, while Makenna Klauka recorded three blocks. Grace Ehrmantraut led Millington defensively with 37 digs and added six aces. The 3-1 tournament performance moves Millington to 12-3 overall. The Cardinals remain 2-0 in Big Thumb Conference play and return home Tuesday, Sept. 15, to face Caro at 7:30 p.m.
