MILLINGTON — The Millington varsity volleyball team continued its strong start to the season Thursday night, defeating Unionville-Sebewaing 3-1 in Big Thumb Conference action. The Cardinals opened with a 25-17 victory before USA answered with a 25-22 win in the second set. Millington responded with a convincing 25-13 victory in the third and closed out the match 25-23 in the fourth. Carly Ehrmantraut led the Cardinals with 15 kills, 11 digs, two aces and two blocks. Kallie Stevens added seven kills, 12 digs and two aces, while Brooklyn Barden finished with five kills and two blocks. Kate Murray directed the Millington offense with 25 assists and added 12 digs. Lyla Wagner recorded two aces, while Grace Ehrmantraut led the defense with a team-high 26 digs. Millington improved to 9-2 overall and 2-0 in BTC play with the victory. The Cardinals return to action Saturday, Sept. 12, when they travel to the Marlette Invitational. Millington’s athletic schedule lists tournament play beginning at 9 a.m.
