Millington runners compete at John Bruder Classic

SHEPHERD — Millington cross country runners competed against a large field Wednesday at the John Bruder Classic at Shepherd High School. Masen O’Neil led the Millington varsity boys, placing 84th among 247 runners. The junior completed the 5-kilometer course in 19 minutes, 11.20 seconds. Gavin Blue finished 158th in 21:35.30. Kolten O’Neil placed 181st in 22:13.70, Evan Foley was 186th in 22:22.70, and Daniel Williams finished 203rd in 23:00.10. Brynn Burrows paced the varsity girls with a 38th-place finish among 200 runners. She recorded a time of 21:48.60. Claire Burrows followed one spot and one-tenth of a second behind, placing 39th in 21:48.70. Carolan Emmons finished 95th in 23:54.49, while Harlo Schenk placed 104th in 24:10.25. Millington also had four middle school runners compete in the 2-mile races. Garrett Emmons led the group with a seventh-place finish in the boys' race, recording a time of 12:13.01. In the girls' race, Jaclyn Funsch placed 51st in 15:38.05. Helayna Laurin finished 207th in 21:45.98, and Emmah Sherman placed 220th in 23:05.57. Millington returns to action Saturday at the Hatchet Invitational at the Huron County Fairgrounds in Bad Axe. The meet begins at 9 a.m.
