SANDUSKY — Millington girls golf picked up another Big Thumb Conference victory Wednesday, finishing first at the league jamboree at Woodland Hills Golf Club. The Cardinals posted a team score of 208 to finish nine strokes ahead of host Sandusky, which placed second at 217. Ubly and Cass City tied for third at 219, followed by Caro at 261, Bad Axe at 263 and Akron-Fairgrove at 283. Freshman Courtney Matusik led a balanced Millington lineup, shooting a 49 to finish fourth overall. Junior Logan Matusik was one stroke back with a 50 and placed fifth. Freshman Abbi Hoffman carded a 54 to finish eighth, while senior Zella Hascall shot a 55 and placed ninth. Those four rounds combined for Millington's winning score. Junior Brooke Milostan added a 62, while freshman Brielle Hayes finished with a 63. The victory gives Millington its second Big Thumb Conference jamboree win of the season. The Cardinals also won the Aug. 25 jamboree at Rolling Hills Golf Course in Cass City, where they shot a 188. Millington returns to conference action Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Willow Springs Golf & Country Club.
