FRANKENMUTH — Millington girls golf tested itself against a large field Thursday at the Patriot Cup Invitational at The Fortress Golf Course, finishing 15th overall. Junior Logan Matusik once again led the Cardinals, placing ninth individually. The Patriot Cup gave Millington another opportunity to compete in an invitational setting on The Fortress, an 18-hole, par-72 course in Frankenmuth. Freshman Abbi Hoffman finished 72nd overall, while freshman Courtney Matusik placed 80th. Senior Zella Hascall finished 87th and junior Lola Ratza was 90th to round out Millington's five-player lineup. Matusik's ninth-place showing continued a strong start to her junior season. She has led the Cardinals throughout the opening weeks, including medalist honors at Tuesday's Big Thumb Conference jamboree in Cass City. The Cardinals finished the Patriot Cup with another chance to compete against programs outside the Big Thumb Conference before returning to their regular-season schedule with a jamboree on Monday, August 31, at Ubly Height Golf and Country Club.
