CASS CITY — Millington girls golf captured its first Big Thumb Conference jamboree of the season Tuesday, shooting a team score of 188 to finish 15 strokes ahead of runner-up Ubly. The Cardinals led a seven-team field at Cass City, with Ubly finishing second at 203 and host Cass City taking third at 208. Sandusky followed at 230, Caro shot 255, Bad Axe finished at 272 and Akron-Fairgrove carded a 276. Junior Logan Matusik led the way for Millington and earned medalist honors with a 43, the lowest individual round of the tournament. Junior Lola Ratza turned in a strong round of 46 to finish third overall, while senior Zella Hascall shot 49 to place sixth. Freshman Abbi Hoffman added a 50 and finished seventh. Those four scores accounted for Millington’s winning 188. Junior Brooke Milostan finished with a 58, while junior Monroe Goodell carded a 65 to round out the Cardinals’ lineup. Millington’s performance continued a strong opening stretch to the 2026 season. The Cardinals placed second at their season-opening invitational at The Timbers and eighth in a 20-team field at the Lapeer Lightning Tune-Up before earning Tuesday’s conference victory. The Cardinals return to action Thursday, Aug. 27, at The Fortress in Frankenmuth for the Patriot Cup Invitational.
