BAD AXE — The Millington junior varsity volleyball team opened its regular season with a 2-1-1 record Friday at the Bad Axe JV Invitational. The Cardinals picked up victories over Deckerville and North Huron, split with host Bad Axe and suffered their lone loss of the tournament against Harbor Beach. Millington received a strong defensive effort from Aubrey Wascher, who finished the tournament with a team-high 34 digs. Brynlee Watts added 25 digs. Taylor Watson directed the Cardinals' offense with 35 assists and also tied Watts for the team lead with six aces. Adelle Pennell added four aces. At the net, Emma Garl led Millington with 13 kills, while Arianna Desgrange finished with nine. The Cardinals begin the season with a 2-1-1 record and return to action Saturday, Aug. 29, when they travel to Mt. Morris for tournament play.
