VASSAR — The Millington girls golf team opened its 2026 season Monday with a strong second-place finish at the Millington Invitational at The Timbers Golf Club. The Cardinals finished with a team score of 388, trailing only Bay City Western, which won the season-opening tournament with a 386. Ubly finished third at 451, followed by Saginaw Nouvel Catholic at 456 and Clio at 540. Millington's balanced team performance was led by junior Logan Matusik, who fired an 80 to finish first among the Cardinals. Matusik's round put her among the top individual scores in the tournament and gave Millington a strong start to the season. Freshman Abbi Hoffman followed with a 101, while freshman Courtney Matusik carded a 102. Senior Zella Hascall rounded out Millington's four counting scores with a 105. Those four scores combined for Millington's team total of 388. Junior Brooke Milostan shot 107, while junior Lola Ratza finished with a 117. Freshman Brielle Hayes also competed for the Cardinals and was listed at 40 strokes through 17 holes at the time of the results. Junior Monroe Goodell finished with a 136. The Cardinals will continue the season with another opportunity to compete when they travel to the Lapeer Country Club on Friday, August 21.
