MILLINGTON — Millington’s historic postseason run came to an end Saturday afternoon as Lutheran Northwest rallied for a 15-8 victory in the Division 3 state quarterfinals. The Cardinals close the season with a 21-14 record, but not before putting together one of the finest tournament runs in school history. Millington captured both a district championship and the program’s first-ever regional championship before advancing to the final eight teams in Division 3. Millington looked poised to continue its magical run early, building an 8-2 lead through the first five innings. The Cardinals scored two runs in the first, added another in the second and broke the game open with a three-run third before adding two more in the fifth. Lucas Fluty led the offense with two hits and two RBIs, while Drake Terwilliger also collected two hits and drove in a run. Garret Woodward doubled, scored a run and knocked in another, and Brandon Dickie tripled and added an RBI. Coleton Schisler contributed a hit and an RBI, and Hudson Myers and Logan Myers each scored during the early offensive surge. Lutheran Northwest answered with two runs in the third before taking control with a four-run fourth inning and another four-run fifth. The Crusaders sealed the game by scoring five times in the sixth inning.. Although the season ended one win short of the state semifinals, the Cardinals leave behind a memorable postseason. Millington defeated 15th-ranked Reese, LakeVille, district host Montrose, 10th-ranked Lakers and seventh-ranked Grosse Pointe University Liggett during its playoff run, earning the first regional title in school history along the way. The 2026 Cardinals finish with a 21-14 record and a place in the program record book as district and regional champions.
