MONTROSE — Millington baseball captured a Division 3 district championship Saturday, overwhelming Montrose 16-4 in a mercy-shortened district final. The Cardinals wasted no time taking control, erupting for 11 runs in the first inning and never looking back. Millington added three more runs in the second and two in the fifth to secure the title in five innings. Millington’s offense was relentless, drawing 12 walks and producing nine hits. Logan Myers delivered one of the biggest blows, tripling and driving in three runs. Garret Woodward collected two hits and two RBIs, while Brandon Dickie added two hits, scored twice and drove in a run. Hudson Myers contributed two RBIs, and Lukas Henderson and Coleton Schisler each knocked in a run. The Cardinals showed patience throughout the lineup, with Lucas Fluty scoring twice, Gauge Woelzlien crossing the plate twice, and Chase Milostan reaching base three times and driving in a run. Montrose answered with four runs in the bottom of the first, but Woodward settled in and kept the Rams off the board the rest of the way. The right-hander allowed three hits, struck out nine and earned the complete-game victory. The district title sends Millington into regional play for the second straight season. The Cardinals will face Lakers in a Division 3 regional semifinal at 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, at Montrose High School.
