Baseball advances to District Final

MONTROSE — Millington baseball advanced to the district championship game Saturday with a convincing 9-2 win over LakeVille in a Division 3 district semifinal. The Cardinals struck early and never let up, scoring three runs in the first inning and adding four more in the second to seize control. Millington finished with 12 hits and played error-free baseball to back a complete-game effort from LukasHenderson. Lucas Fluty sparked the offense from the top of the lineup, collecting two hits, driving in two runs and scoring twice. Garret Woodward added two hits and an RBI, while Brandon Dickie doubled, scored and drove in a run. Chase Milostan and Henderson each chipped in RBIs as the Cardinals produced runs throughout the lineup. Coleton Schisler added two hits and scored a run, and Millington applied steady pressure on the bases, stealing multiple bags throughout the afternoon. Henderson was strong on the mound, going the distance while allowing two runs on seven hits. He struck out eight and did not issue a walk in a 98-pitch performance. LakeVille scored twice in the fourth inning to trim the deficit, but Millington answered by keeping the Falcons off the board the rest of the way. The Cardinals will play in the district final at 2 p.m. Saturday in Montrose.
