Golf season ends at Regionals

PIGEON — Millington golf wrapped up its 2026 season Wednesday with a 10th-place finish at the Division 3 Regional 16 tournament at Scenic Golf and Country Club. The Cardinals posted a team score of 362 against a strong regional field that featured several top Division 3 programs. Essexville Garber claimed the regional championship with a 308, while Chesaning and Durand tied for second at 334 to qualify for the MHSAA state finals. Shepherd finished fourth at 337. Ian Stiff paced Millington with an 84, finishing 17th overall and narrowly missing state qualification. Easton Hayes followed with an 89, placing 35th. Gabe Bock carded a 92 for the Cardinals, while Nathan Mahoney and Paul Williams each finished with rounds of 97. Millington ended one spot behind Caro, who shot a 358. The regional marked the end of the season for the Cardinals, who showed steady improvement throughout the spring and earned several highlights along the way. Stiff earned First Team All-Big Thumb Conference honors, while Qwill Schmandt, Mahoney, and Bock collected honorable mention recognition. Though the season came to a close in Pigeon, Millington’s lineup returns valuable experience, including underclassmen who gained postseason experience against one of the state’s toughest Division 3 regional fields.
