MILLINGTON — Millington softball closed the regular season with a split against Frankenmuth on Wednesday, falling 3-2 in the opener before bouncing back for a 7-4 victory in the nightcap. The Cardinals finish the regular season at 22-13 and will host districts Saturday. Millington opens postseason play against Almont at 11 a.m. In Game 1, Millington was limited to just two hits in a 3-2 loss despite another strong outing in the circle from Ashlyn Bentoski. Frankenmuth scored twice in the second inning and added the deciding run in the seventh to edge the Cardinals. Bentoski allowed just one earned run on six hits while striking out four in a complete-game effort. Makenna Klauka and Karlie Sherman accounted for Millington’s only hits, with Klauka and Cheyenne Pashby each driving in a run. Millington answered in the nightcap behind timely hitting and a milestone performance from Kamryn Blackmer. The Cardinals jumped out early with two runs in the first inning and never surrendered the lead in a 7-4 win. Sherman collected two hits and drove in three runs, while Logan Matusik added two hits and scored twice. Klauka and Blackmer each drove in two runs as Millington finished with eight hits. Blackmer doubled twice in Game 2, giving her 19 doubles on the season and setting a new Millington school record. The previous mark of 18 was set by Hannah Rabideau in 2019. Zella Hascall earned the win in the circle, allowing four runs — just one earned — on four hits over seven innings. Millington will host districts on Saturday, May 30, beginning with an 11 a.m. matchup against Almont.
