Abigail Reis continued her standout postseason run Tuesday, earning another top finish in distance competition as Millington competed in the annual Thumb Meet of Champions at Caro High School. Reis, who previously qualified for the Division 3 state finals in the 3,200-meter run, will compete Saturday, May 30, at Kent City High School. Reis paced the Millington girls with runner-up finishes in both distance events. The senior took second in the 1,600-meter run in 5:35.00 and followed with another second-place showing in the 3,200, crossing in 12:31.68 against one of the area’s top distance fields. The Thumb Meet of Champions featured many of the top athletes from across the Thumb, including state-ranked competitors from Division 1 through Division 4 schools. Millington now turns its attention to the Division 3 state finals Saturday at Kent City, where Reis will represent the Cardinals in the 3,200-meter run.
