Millington softball capped off its regular season in dominant fashion Tuesday, sweeping Vassar 17-0 and 16-0 to clinch the Big Thumb Conference White Division championship. The Cardinals overwhelmed Vassar from the opening inning in both games, outscoring the Vulcans 33-0 and allowing no hits across the doubleheader. Millington improves to 21-12 on the season. In the opener, Millington broke the game open with a seven-run second inning before adding seven more in the fourth in a four-inning mercy-rule victory. Cheyenne Pashby powered the offense with two hits, including a home run, and four RBIs. Karlie Sherman added two doubles and two RBIs, while Kamryn Blackmer collected two hits and drove in two runs. Ashlyn Bentoski reached base four times and added two hits and an RBI. Bentoski dominated in the circle, throwing a four-inning no-hitter with eight strikeouts and no walks. The nightcap followed a similar script. Millington erupted for 15 runs in the first inning and never slowed down in a 16-0 three-inning win. Logan Matusik led the Cardinals with three hits and three RBIs, while Pashby, Hannah Bedell, and Karily Dickson each drove in runs as Millington finished with 10 hits. Sherman doubled and scored, Zella Hascall added an extra-base hit, and the Cardinals capitalized on defensive miscues to keep pressure on throughout the game. Bentoski was again untouchable in the circle, striking out all seven outs she recorded in a three-inning perfect game. With the sweep, Millington secures the Big Thumb Conference White Division title and will host Frankenmuth on Wednesday, May 27.
