Millington baseball kept its season alive Tuesday, outlasting Reese 5-2 in eight innings in a Division 3 pre-district matchup. Locked in a 2-2 tie after seven innings, the Cardinals broke through in the top of the eighth with three runs to pull away and punch their ticket to the district semifinals. Millington managed just four hits but made the most of scoring chances and patience at the plate, drawing seven walks and swiping multiple bases. Garret Woodward sparked the offense with a double and an RBI, while Brandon Dickie added a hit and drove in a run. Lukas Henderson and Logan Myers each collected an RBI, and Lucas Fluty scored three runs after reaching base four times. Dickie turned in another strong performance on the mound, going seven innings while allowing just two hits and no earned runs. He struck out four and kept Reese off balance. Henderson closed the door in the eighth, tossing a scoreless inning in relief. Reese tied the game with two runs in the fourth inning, but the Cardinals answered when it mattered most, scoring three times in extra innings to secure the win. Millington will face LakeVille in the district semifinal on Saturday, May 30, at 10 a.m. in Montrose.
