The Millington boys and girls junior varsity track teams competed in the annual Bob Schroer Invitational at MLS. There were eight teams competing and medals were awarded to the top six individuals and top three relay teams in each event. Earning a silver medal for the girls was J’Lynn Aguirre with a leap of 11’7”. Emelia Dueweke garnered a 6th place medal in the same event.
The boys 4×100 relay team (48.2) of Owen Butterfield, Aaron Gross, Ray Thorington, and Nathaniel Oakwood was the lone 1st place finisher. The same team ran the 4×200 (1:44.4) to earn a second-place medal. Butterfield added a silver medal in the 100 (11.7). Nathan Selich raced to a bronze medal in the 300m hurdles (48.8). Gross added a 5th place medal in the 100 (12.1) and a 6th place medal in the 200 (25.2). Thorington rounded out medal winners with a 6th place leap of 14’9” in the long jump.
The Cardinal track team returns to action Friday, April 30 at the Hurd Invitational (Vassar). Field events start at 3:30 p.m. with running events slated for a 4:30 p.m. start.
