MILLINGTON – The Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) recently released the district basketball pairings for the girls and boys. Both Millington teams ended up with very similar opponents and similar state-ranked schools in the district.
The Millington (5-13) girls will get things kicked off on Monday, March 2, when they face the Bentley Bulldogs (9-9) at 6:00 p.m. at Bentley High School in Burton. Elsewhere in the district Beecher (12-6) will face Atherton at Beecher High School at 6:00 p.m., and Lakeville (0-19) will host Bendle (8-10). On Wednesday, the winners of Bentley/Millington and Beecher/Atherton games will play at 5:30 p.m. at Lakeville High School. The second game that night will see the Lakeville/Bendle winner face the Hamady Hawks, the #3 ranked team in the state. The district championship game will take place at Lakeville Memorial High School on Friday, March 6 at 7:00 p.m.
The Millington (9-8) boys will begin their district play the following Monday, March 9, when they also travel to Burton to face the Bentley Bulldogs (5-13). The game will have a 6:00 p.m. tip-off. Elsewhere in the district the #1 ranked Beecher Buccaneers (18-1) will host Vassar (2-14), and Atherton (2-15) will host Bendle (15-3). On Wednesday, the winners of the Bentley/Millington and Beecher/Vassar games will tip-off at 5:30 p.m. at Bendle High School in Burton. The second game of the night will feature the winner of the Atherton/Bendle game taking on Lakeville (5-13) at 7:00 p.m. Bendle will host the district championship game on Friday, March 13, with a tip-off at 6:00 p.m.
