Multiple Teams · Super Saturday for Millington Athletics

Millington Athletics has dubbed tomorrow Saturday, November 2, “Super Saturday”.  The Cardinal athletic department will have student-athletes competing in three different locations scattered across the state covering over 277 miles and almost five hours of drive time.

The volleyball team will get things kicked off at 9:00 a.m. as they travel to Alma High School to compete in the Tri-Valley Conference (TVC) Meet.  A total of 18 teams comprising of the TVC East and West will be competing for the crown of TVC Champion.  After the TVC Meet, the Cardinal volleyball team will have a quick turnaround as they travel to Vassar High School on Monday to begin district play.  They will face Marlette at 6:00 p.m.  Admission to Vassar High School will be $6 and passes will not be accepted.  You will be able to follow along with regular updates on Monday on the Millington Athletics Twitter page, @MillingtonCards.

Logan Gutierrez of the cross-country team is up next as the lone Cardinal competing at the Michigan High School Athletic Association’s (MHSAA) Division 3 state championships.  The meet will take place at the Michigan International Speedway (MIS) located in Brooklyn, MI.  The Division 3 boys will begin running at 11:30 a.m.  Gutierrez ran a personal best time of 16:48.7 last week at the regionals.  If he can duplicate that time he should finish in the top 10th percentile of male runners tomorrow.  Gates open at 7:30 a.m. at MIS and admission is $8 for the MHSAA final event.

The Cardinal football team enters the MHSAA playoffs for the 16th consecutive year when they travel to Flint, MI to take on the Hamady Hawks at 1:00 p.m.  Millington looks to improve on their 5-4 record as they play the Hawks for the first time in school history.  Gates will open at 12:00 p.m. with an admission charge of $6.  Passes will not be accepted.  Millington Athletics will have quarterly updates on our Facebook page and you will be able to follow along play by play on our Twitter page.
