FRANKENMUTH – Millington’s JV track team participated in a 9-team invitational Monday evening. Top 6 places medaled at the meet. Makenzi Alexander was a triple medal winner as she finished 5th in the high jump (4’2”), 6th in the 100M hurdles (21.67), and 6th in the 300M hurdles (1:02.51). Olivia McVay paced the distance runners with a 4th place finish in the 1600M (6:34.25) and a 5th place finish in the 3200M (14:40.77). Shot put and discus saw Isabelle Basner and Cassie Bukoski each collect a pair of medals. Basner heaved the shot 28’6.5” for 2nd place and tossed the discus 69’4” for a 6th place medal. Bukoski collected a pair of bronze medals by tossing the shot put 27’ and the discus 77’1”. Emily Bailey rounded out medal winners with a 5th place leap in the long jump (12’9”).
Aiden Harris and Logan Curtis each medaled in two events for the boys. Harris placed 5th in the 200M (25.85) and tied for 6th in the long jump (16’10.5”). Curtis finished 4th in the high jump (5’4”) and 5th in the 300M hurdles (49.88). David Tebedo rounded out medal winners with a 4th place finish in the 400M with a personal best time of 56.09.
The Cardinal track team returns to action Friday, May 17 in the MHSAA Region 28 competition. Field events start at 3 p.m. and running events start at 4 p.m. Top two finishers in the 15-team meet qualify for the Saturday, June 1 state finals at Jenison High School.
