MILLINGTON – Millington pitchers Gabbie Sherman and Cally Jo Cunningham allowed only six Lakeville baserunners en route to a sweep over the Falcons on Wednesday night by the scores of 9-0 and 15-0.
Sherman was the starter in game one. She allowed two hits and a walk in the fourth inning, and two walks and hit a batter in the fifth inning before giving way to Cunningham to pitch the final two innings. Sherman picked up the win throwing five innings and striking out 11 batters.
Cunningham and Hannah Rabideau led the team offensively each collecting three hits. Cunningham had two doubles and a stolen base. Rabideau had two RBIs to go along with her three singles. McKenna Slough, Sydney Bishop, and Darrien Roberts all had two hits apiece. Bishop added her 8th home run of the year to go along with her three RBIs. Taylor Rueger also added one hit in the victory.
Game two saw Sherman throw her 15th complete game of the season and her 8th shutout. Sherman is now 15-4 on the season with a 1.23 ERA.
Offensively the Cardinals were led by Cunningham, Bishop, and Rueger who all had three hits apiece. Cunningham added three runs and three RBIs. Bishop added three RBIs to bring her total to 33 on the season. Rueger added three runs scored and two RBIs.
Rabideau and Sherman each added two hits. Roberts and Maddie Hahn added one hit apiece.
The sweep brings Millington’s record to 20-4 overall and 10-0 in the Tri-Valley East. They return to action on Friday (today), May 12 versus Bay City Western. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
