Game Recap

Hallie Maurer and Taylor Wright each hit home runs as Millington pounded out 15 hits in their 12-0 victory over Montrose in pre-district play on Tuesday in Millington. The Lady Cards have now hit 34 home runs which is the 10th best total for a single season in Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) history.

Leah Denome had four hits and scored three runs from her lead off spot to spark the Millington offense which has now out scored their opponents 399-42 on the season. The Cardinals .427 team batting average is currently the sixth best batting average by any softball team in the history of the MHSAA.

Sydney Bishop had three hits on the night. Along with her home run, Wright was 2-3 on the night with three RBI. Maurer was 2-3 with two RBI. Cally Cunningham also added two hits.

Gabbie Sherman and Taylor Rueger each had one hit on the night.

Sherman earned the victory on the night. She threw innings in relief of Wright, while striking out five batters.

Millington (35-1) plays Ubly in a regular season double-header tonight (June 1) and then takes the field in district semi-final action on Saturday, June 4 at 12 p.m. as they take on the Falcons of Lakeville.
