Game Summary

With three players scoring in double digits, the Millington boys basketball team edged Caro 78-71 on Friday.

Junior guard Shawn Pardee led the Millington effort with 25 points. Austin LeVan added 20 points and Troy Dues totaled 15.

“He’s is a good ball player,” Millington coach Shane LeVan said of Pardee. “He started for us last year at the point as a sophomore. He and Austin are our two guys.

“Caro ran a triangle-and-2 on us tonight to try and stop those two. He and Austin played okay, but we have to shoot the ball better.”

Millington saw an 11-point halftime lead turn into a one-point gap at the start of the fourth quarter.

“They came out on fire in the third quarter and we were bad defensively,” Shane LeVan said. “We didn’t shoot the ball well.

“In the fourth, it was back and forth until they started fouling us. It was a three to five-point fourth quarter the whole way through.”

Bailey Krueger, a senior wing player, led Caro with a game-high 31 points.

“He’s always had the potential and is a complete player,” Caro coach Dan Bills said. “He was taking the ball to the basket tonight and being a little more selfish. He’s definitely capable and put it all together tonight.”

Caro plays at LakeVille on Friday.

“We just want to play with the same intensity as we did tonight,” Bills said. “Millington is a big rivalry, so the kids were fired up. If we keep the intensity up going forward, we’ll be good.”

Millington travels to Garber on Friday.

“We need to play much better defense,” Shane LeVan said. “We have to contest shots much better and get help-side defense going. Garber’s got a solid team, with good guard play. They should be good on Friday night.”  Article courtesy of MLive.
