Millington 28-41 from FT line
The Millington boys basketball team opened the game on a 16-8 run, on its way to recording the 66-44 win over host Standish-Sterling on Tuesday.
“We looked a little out-of-sync at times during the game, but we were able to make enough plays down the stretch to get the win,” Millington coach Shane LeVan said. “We had a low shooting percentage and that’s kind of expected in the first game of the season. We were a little more aggressive in the second half and took it to the rim a lot more on offense. That was the gameplan before the game, but there were a lot of fouls called and we had to adjust to the way the game was being called.”
Junior Shawn Pardee scored a game-high 29 points to lead Millington, while senior Austin LeVan added 26 points, 10 rebounds, and seven steals.
“We just need to shoot the ball better in order to win games,” LeVan said. “We are a guard-oriented team, so shooting from long-distance and mid range is very important to our team. Shawn (Pardee) and Austin (LeVan) were my scoring leaders last year, so we expect them to perform well game in and game out. They are off to a good start so far.”
